Viktor Hovland

Viktor Hovland’s Masters debut came in 2019 as the reigning U.S. Amateur champion. Hovland, the first Norwegian to compete in the Masters, appeared beside winner Tiger Woods in Butler Cabin on Sunday afternoon as the Low Amateur. Two months later, Hovland finished T12 at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, site of his U.S. Amateur triumph a year earlier. Now 23, he turned professional in June 2019 after three years at Oklahoma State. He has gone on to win twice on the PGA Tour, becoming just the fifth European player since 1945 to earn multiple PGA Tour victories before age 24.

Became OSU’s fifth U.S. Amateur champion in 2018 … defeated UCLA’s Devon Bling, 6&5, in the 36-hole final at Pebble Beach Golf Links … trailed for just one hole during his six matches … also played just 104 holes over the course of the week, matching the mark for fewest holes played by a champion since 1979 … additionally, he did not trail over his final 86 holes and won 44 of the 104 holes he played … competed at the European Tour’s Porsche European Open in 2018, posting rounds of 68 and 80 … competed for the International side at the 2018 Palmer Cup … was runner-up at the 2018 European Amateur Championship … posted rounds of 71, 71, 73 and 67 to finish at 282 … carded rounds of 70 and 65 to tie for ninth during stroke play at The Amateur Championship in 2018 … advanced to the fourth round (round of 16) of the match play portion of the event … competed with teammate Kristoffer Ventura for the European side at the 2017 Palmer Cup … finished second at the 2016 European Amateur Championship after falling on the seventh playoff hole … carded rounds of 67, 73, 63 and 69 for a 16-under total of 272 to share the top spot on the leaderboard … finished ninth at the 2015 Spanish Amateur Championship … finished seventh at the 2015 Titleist Tour Finale … finished ninth at the Junior Players Championship and seventh at the AJGA Thunderbird International Junior in 2015 … won the 2015 Norwegian International Trophy … competed as a member of the Norwegian National Team, helping his squad to a top-five finish at the 2015 Spirit International … finished second during the stroke play portion of the 2015 U.S. Junior Amateur with rounds of 68 and 71 … posted a 3-0-1 mark as a member of the Continent of Europe squad at the 2015 Jacques Leglise Trophy.
