Rose Zhang

Rose Zhang, 17, enters the second Augusta National Women’s Amateur as the top-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, having won the U.S. Women’s Amateur and three junior events in 2020. She also finished T-11 at the ANA Inspiration and competed in the U.S. Women’s open.

Zhang’s considered withdrawing from the 2020 U.S. Women’s Amateur with a wrist injury, but was healthy enough to play after 10 days of rest and treatment. A brilliant third shot on the 36th hole helped her extend the final match, which she won over Gabriela Ruffels on the 38th hole.

Zhang followed that victory with a six-stroke triumph at the Rolex Girls Junior Championship and wins at the PING Invitational and Rolex Tournament of Champions. She finished 8-under at the ANA Inspiration, with two sub-70 rounds, and was the low amateur

A successful 2019 included winning the Toyota Junior World Cup in a three-way playoff and making the quarterfinals of the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. She also made the cut at the U.S. Women’s Open and finished T-17 at the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur. She hails from Irvine, Calif., and will attend Stanford University.
