Hailing from Asserbo, Denmark, Karen Fredgaard, 21, a sophomore at the University of Houston, wrapped up the fall portion of the current season with a T-2 showing at the Golfweek Sandestin Amateur, her first collegiate event since February 2020. She also competed in the U.S. Women’s Amateur, and was runner-up in the Danish National Match Play Championship in June 2020.
Fredgaard made school history with her runner-up finish at the White Sands Invitational in 2019. Rounds of 68-69-68 gave her a score of 205, breaking the previous school record for a 54-hole tournament by two strokes. She had two other top-10 finishes as well in the fall portion of the 2019-20 season.
Fredgaard was T-5 in the 2019 European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, highlighted by a third-round 68. She was a member of the Danish National Ladies’ Team from 2018-19 and participated in the 2019 European Ladies’ Team Championship.
