Emma Spitz

Austrian Emma Spitz, 20, won four events in her home country in the summer of 2020, including the Austrian Match Play and Austrian Stroke Play Championship. She finished T-4 at the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship, two strokes back of a playoff for the title and competed in the 2020 U.S. Women’s Open.

Now a sophomore at UCLA, Spitz logged a pair of top-10 finishes in the fall portion of her first year at UCLA, finishing third at the Golfweek Conference Challenge and T-7 at the Pac-12 Preview. She tied for medalist honors the Bruin Wave Invitational, erasing a six-stroke deficit in the final round. She finished T-10 at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, her final appearance before the season was cancelled.

Spitz, who competed in the 2019 Women’s British Open, finished T-11 at the European Ladies’ Amateur Championship over the summer and advanced to the first round of match play at The Women’s Amateur Championship. She also claimed the Slovenian Amateur Championship title in May 2019.

Spitz made history in 2018, becoming the first Austrian player to win the Girls’ British Open Amateur. She was a member of the 2018 European Junior Ryder Cup and 2017 European Junior Solheim Cup teams, and also was the bronze medalist at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina.
