The son of Debbie and Blaine Morikawa, Morikawa graduated from La Cañada High School de La Cañada in Flintridge, California, in Los Angeles County . Morikawa made his professional debut at the 2019 RBC Canadian Open, where he finished 14th. he shared the line. On August 9, 2020, Morikawa won the 2020 PGA Championship, winning a major in only his second major championship start. his final round of 64 tied the lowest final round score ever scored by a PGA champion who matched Steve Elkington at the 1995 PGA Championship . Morikawa became the third youngest golfer to win a PGA Championship when he won the event at the age of 23 with this win. Morikawa also became the fourth golfer to win the PGA Championship before turning 24.
